Medicare in Louisiana is run by the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services and is a federal health insurance program. The companies offering Medicare benefits in Louisiana have to offer standard policies, and the policies must be approved as Medicare Supplemental Health Insurance.
Louisiana's Four Plans
Part A provides coverage for the inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facilities, and home health care and also includes services like hospice care. Part B covers physician's services, outpatient care, and home health care. Part B also includes dialysis, x-rays, diagnosis tests, and medical equipment such as mobility scooters, eyeglasses, canes, and oxygen cylinders.
Intricate regulations are used to administer Medicare. Part B is discretionary and may be postponed if the receiver or their spouse is still actively working. Medicare Part D (the ""Prescription Drug Plan"") is a program that protects the recipient from the staggering prices of drugs. It also protects the recipient from future costs of the drugs. To receive these benefits the recipient with Medicare must register in an individual prescription drug Plan or Medicare Advantage plan with prescription drug coverage. The plans are permitted and synchronized by the Medicare program, but are actually considered and administered by the private health insurance companies.
The services that are covered by Louisiana Medicare may include chiropractic services, ambulance services, foot care, regular screenings, mammograms, cancer screenings, diabetic programs; flu and hepatitis vaccinations, bone mass measurement, Medical nourishment remedies, and many other services.
